Generating Manufacturing Data

You can keep working with your project or open it from the Workspace and continue from where the previous step is completed.

The final stage of design is output data generation. Typically, the following files are required: Gerber files, drilling files, assembly drawing, and pick and place file. In Altium Designer, the easiest way to get it is to use an Output Job File. Let's create such a file in the project: File » New » Output Job File. Then save the project locally and to the Workspace.

In order to get an assembly drawing, select Add New Assembly Output, right-click, and select the Assembly Drawings » PCB file command from the menu.

Next, we add the Assembly Drawings document. We will output the document as a PDF file. To do this, select PDF in Output Containers and select Enabled. A green arrow should appear. The PDF is created by clicking Generate content.

To configure the contents of the assembly file, click on Assembly Drawings » Configure, and the Preview PCB dialog will open. You can learn more about Preview PCB here.

In the same section of Assembly Output, the Pick and Place file is created in the same way. Specify Folder Structure in Output Containers for it.

Gerber files and drill files are output via Fabrication Outputs.

As a rule, the following composition of gerber files is required and should be selected by default.

Note: The documentation output settings are in most cases identical for all boards. In order not to configure all the documentation for each project you can save this Output Job File as a template and later use it in other projects, specifying the new board as the "Data Source".

You can get the completed project here.
