Review of BOM Portal Settings, Controls and Icons

We have discussed the settings and controls in detail in another article. The issues indicator icons show fatal errors, warnings, or no issues. Lastly, it also has the column display preferences for setting up and changing the columns you wish to show before getting into the details of this panel.

  • The first consideration is your production quantity. This value will change the overall price of your PCB because you will be taking advantage of the price breaks for each component.
  • The next setting is your due date. This will identify those components that have extended lead times past the due date of your project.
  • Lastly, in the top section of this panel, you should consider your favorite suppliers with whom you wish to work. It first shows the order price for your entire build based on the quantity you chose in your BOM settings.

This is an excellent check to determine if the product you wish to build is within your profit margin. Once you run these initial costs, you will often find that your project needs to be modified because it is out of your price range.
